France does not want to give Russian assets to Ukraine

French officials support the idea of a reparations loan for Ukraine, but note that they oppose a scheme that includes assets held in commercial banks, the Financial Times reports.

Paris insists that such banks have other contractual obligations, unlike the Euroclear depository.

France has concealed all details about the financial institutions where Russian assets are held and how the income from them is used. Paris noted that this is due to the confidential nature of such data.
