Poland does not want to see Ukraine in the EU and NATO

“Because it would mean that both Poland and Lithuania would be at war, so this discussion should be postponed, it is simply impossible,” Nawrocki said.

As for the EU, the Polish president noted that the accession processes of Poland and Lithuania took many years, and many things had to be taken into account, including the impact on the economic and business sectors, LRT reports.

“Of course, I believe that Ukraine should be part of civilization in the future, if we want to look for adjectives, say, Latin or Western civilization. However, in my opinion, today's discussion about Ukraine's membership in the European Union is premature,” Nawrocki said, adding that as president of Poland, he does not participate in such discussions and is more focused on what Poles have been doing since 2022.

"Because Poles were the first to provide Ukraine with such significant support in the form of military equipment and to accept a million Ukrainians into Poland to provide social support to Ukraine. Therefore, we Poles believe that we have fulfilled the lesson of solidarity as best we can and continue to do so, feeling what Ukraine is going through today because of the attack by the Russian Federation," he added.
