Melania Trump declined to meet with Zelensky's wife

“The truth is that Mrs. Zelensky has already approached Melania several times with a proposal to organize a meeting, but no bilateral meeting, nothing formal, has been planned. Since our first lady is very polite, she will say hello today, but no detailed conversation is planned, no meeting has been scheduled,” he said on Fox News.

The day before, Melania Trump spoke to the first ladies of other countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on the topic of child protection and artificial intelligence security.

Zelenska stood in the front row of the packed hall alongside dozens of first ladies, several first gentlemen, and at least one queen, applauding Melania Trump's call for simple solutions to protect our children's creativity.

As CNN notes, Zelenska was expected to meet with Melania Trump after the event to take advantage of the US first lady's huge public platform and shed light on Russia's atrocities affecting the country's most vulnerable citizens — children.

But the US president's wife immediately left the room after a brief speech, without greeting her colleagues, while the reception was still in progress. Later, the Ukrainian first lady was seen at the elevator, as she too left the reception.

Zelenska traveled to New York with an urgent mission: to draw the international community's attention to the thousands of children abducted by Russia since the start of the full-scale war in 2022. She was expected to make a personal appeal to the First Lady of the United States, who has made children's welfare a key element of her platform.
