Trump is confident that Russia will not invade Ukraine again

" I am firmly convinced that they will not invade again, otherwise I would not have agreed to this," Trump said.

In response to a question about a potential peace agreement that would require the US and its allies to provide military support to Ukraine in the event of another invasion, Trump stressed that the US would play a secondary role in such a situation, according to The New York Times.

“Let's put it this way: its allies, all of Europe, other countries that are joining in, and the US,” Trump said.

He said he remains confident that Putin wants to reach an agreement to end the war. Trump declined to elaborate on how quickly he hopes to bring the war to an end.

“I just don't want to be in a situation where I have to say that because I have an obligation to try to save people's lives. We are doing everything we can. I don't have a timeline,” Trump said.

He said he was not prepared to promise increased US support for Ukraine if Putin continued to refuse a truce.
