Ukraine to receive aid package paid for by Russian assets

The package will include 350 advanced air defense missiles made in the UK and adapted in a record time of 3 months for ground launch, The Guardian reported.

This is the first time the UK has used funds linked to Russia to pay for armaments for Kiev.

The missiles will be used with Raven systems supplied by Britain. Five of them are already on their way to Ukraine. After that, the total number of systems handed over to Kiev will be 13.

Speaking ahead of NATO's annual summit in The Hague, Starmer said Russia, not Ukraine, should pay the price for Putin's barbaric and illegal war.

"We have the right to use confiscated Russian assets to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. Ukraine's security is vital to us," he said.

According to Defense Secretary John Gili, the fact that the missiles will save lives is proof that the UK military and industrial base can adapt to the needs of modern warfare.
