Ukraine receives new support package from the UK

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will chair a meeting of the “coalition of the determined” on February 24, Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper will visit Kyiv, and Defense Minister John Healey will join Ukrainians in London.

“On this sad anniversary, our message to the Ukrainian people is simple: Britain stands with you, stronger than ever. That is why today we are announcing new support and will continue to support Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Starmer said in a statement.

The support package includes:

- £20 million in new emergency energy support to protect and repair the energy network and provide additional power generation capacity – repairing the damage caused by Russia's brutal attacks this winter and securing Ukraine's energy systems for next winter.

- £5.7 million in humanitarian aid to communities on the front line, those in need of evacuation, or those affected by air strikes or internal displacement.

- Medical advice – highly skilled teams of British military surgeons, nurses, and physiotherapists will advise medical professionals in Ukraine. They will accompany Ukrainian teams performing complex operations on the battlefield, using British expertise in trauma surgery and the treatment of military injuries to help Ukrainian servicemen return to military duty or rebuild their lives as civilians.

- Helicopter pilot training – Ukrainian pilots are now training at a British airbase to become helicopter flight instructors. This is the first time the UK has offered Ukraine helicopter flight instructor training. Graduates will train the next generation of Ukrainian military pilots, helping Ukraine defend itself and deter aggression.

The announced support is a continuation of the significant aid announced by the Minister of Defense earlier this month, including half a billion pounds to support air defense and 1,000 light multi-purpose missiles (LMM) to protect Ukraine from constant attacks by Russian drones.
