Trump washes his hands of the war in Ukraine, - The Telegraph

After months of statements about Ukraine losing territory to Russia, as well as statements about peace talks, Trump has made a striking U-turn, reports The Telegraph.

In his latest comments on US support for Ukraine, the US no longer features.

"I believe that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is capable of fighting and regaining all of its territory within its original borders," the newspaper recalls his post on the Truth Social platform.

The White House chief made another similar statement after meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“With time, patience, and financial support from Europe and, in particular, NATO, a return to the original borders from which this war began is a very real possibility,” Trump said.

Instead of promising new aid to Ukraine or increasing pressure on Russia, Trump is effectively shifting responsibility to Europe and NATO. He is not announcing additional support for Kyiv or threatening Moscow with new sanctions. His only commitment is to continue selling weapons to allies.

Trump's position is unlikely to change the situation regarding the war in Ukraine.
