US demands Ukraine and Russian Federation to make difficult historic decision

Kelly emphasized that the United States was ready for constructive negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, but Russia's delay and unwillingness to cooperate could force Washington to reconsider its position, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

“If Russia makes the wrong decision to continue this catastrophic war, the United States will have to consider abandoning our negotiating efforts to end this conflict. To be clear, in doing so, we are not abandoning our principles or our friends. Rather, we will recognize Russia's refusal to cooperate with us to achieve the desired outcome,” he said.

The U.S. will support the peace process, but only if there is honest dialog.

“We will insist that peace discussions by both sides be conducted in good faith,” Kelly said.

Kelly recalled US President Donald Trump's position that the US wants to cooperate with Russia, particularly over the peace initiative.

“The agreement that is being proposed now is the best possible outcome for Russia. President Putin should conclude the agreement,” he emphasized.

Kelly urged both Russia and Ukraine to make the difficult, historic decision to seek peace.

“If one side proves unable or unwilling to do so, it will bear the consequences,” he said.
