IMF names timeframe for the end of the war in Ukraine

In the base scenario, the terms of the end of intensive hostilities remain unchanged - the end of 2025.

“The assumptions about the course of the war underlying the program scenarios remain valid, as peace talks have not yet yielded tangible results,” the IMF said and added that this creates multidirectional risks on the duration and intensity of the conflict.

The IMF's current program has limited capacity to absorb new shocks, including a possible prolongation and intensification of the war, while leaving time for the reforms needed to restore external resilience in the medium term.
