Budanov reiterated that Russia needs a break now, because if it does not come out of the war by 2026, it loses the chance for world leadership.

“They are left with a maximum level of regional leadership, which does not suit them at all. The cost of war is too high, the financial cost of war. It prevents the development of the country, prevents them from engaging in large-scale projects and others. There is a lack of technologies, technological solutions that are absent in the Russian Federation, primarily in the development of the Arctic regions, gas production there, etc.,” he said.

Budanov emphasized that also in Russia there are ethnic problems, religious, a little bit technogenic.

“But this is not something that can radically change the situation in the RF. There is no leader. If a leader appears, everything can change in one day, as was the case with Prigozhin, for example. If there is no leader, no matter what problems there are, everything will be as it is. His regime is absolutely stable. There is no one there who can put a serious threat, it simply does not exist,” he said.
