About 10 countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine

A security package for Ukraine will be put together this week, with leaders seeking President Donald Trump's support for a plan that would bring in European troops as part of a potential peace deal, according to Bloomberg.

After the White House summit on Monday confirmed the US's stronger commitment to guarantees, European leaders are seeking to use Trump's proposal to put Kyiv in a stronger position ahead of a possible meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to people familiar with the matter, Tuesday's meeting of European officials focused on a plan to send British and French troops to Ukraine as part of a peace agreement, including the number and positions of military personnel.

About 10 countries would be willing to send troops to the war-torn country.

However, the exact nature of US support remains unclear. The British government has said that European military officials will meet with their American counterparts in the coming days to discuss reliable security guarantees and prepare for the deployment of peacekeeping forces if the fighting ends.

The commander-in-chief of NATO forces in Europe and the heads of defense ministries of the Alliance member states will take part in these talks.

In the first stage, assistance will be provided to the Ukrainian military in the form of training and reinforcements.

These forces will be supported by a multinational group of mainly European troops, with the UK and France ready to send hundreds of their soldiers to be stationed in Ukraine, away from the front line.

The rest of the plan involves the exchange of intelligence, border surveillance, weapons, and possibly air defense.

European officials expect the US to at least continue to provide intelligence and military equipment through partners.
