US has made progress in talks to end Ukraine war - Trump

When asked if he had a conversation with Putin after he became president on January 20 or before, Trump answered in the affirmative, Reuters reported.

“I had it. Let's just say I've had it. And I expect to have many more conversations. We have to end this war,” he said.

Trump added that if we're talking, I don't want to tell you about the conversations.

“I believe we are making progress. We want to stop the Ukrainian-Russian war,” the US president said.

Trump noted that the states are in contact with Russia and Ukraine.

“We are talking to both sides,” he said.
