US President Donald Trump has said regarding the current situation in the Gaza Strip that he believes the famine problem is real.

Trump differed in his assessment of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said over the weekend that there is no famine there, CNN reported.

"It's really about famine there. I see it, it can't be falsified. So we're going to get even more involved," he said.

Trump said the U.S. plans to deploy food distribution points in the sector “in conjunction with very good people.”

Trump, who has so far blamed Hamas for creating delays in the release of international aid to civilians, acknowledged that Israel is also responsible for restricting aid access.

He called on the Hamas group to release the Israeli hostages they still hold to facilitate negotiations.
