Despite his worldwide popularity, George Clooney has only won one Oscar out of two, for acting, for Best Supporting Actor in Syriana, and not his best film. The second is for producing, for Argo, which was voted Best Picture by the American Film Academy.

In the last few years, he has acted little. Perhaps, paradoxically, Clooney was let down by his appearance, for which the actor was repeatedly recognized as the "most handsome" and "most desirable" man in media polls.

The fact is that Clooney used to have the charm of a man who is secretly loved by women aged 25 to 55 who work in this office. But this type of charm has its own age limit - and he has reached it. Or rather, it seemed that he had come up to the mark - but the premiere of the thriller "Wolves" last year, where Clooney played in a brilliant duet with Brad Pitt, who, by the way, is experiencing the same problems, showed that the charm has not gone away.

Usually, Clooney is a positive hero in the eyes of the audience, even if he plays, as in "Michael Clayton", a lawyer cleaning up the traces of the crimes of his firm's rich clients. As could be expected, here after the first third of the film he is re-educated and becomes an almost ideal hero. The same thing happens with Clooney's character in the film "Up in the Air" - a consultant on dismissals.

By the way, for "Michael Clayton" and "Up in the Air" Clooney was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor, but did not receive it. The record here belongs to the film "Good Night, and Good Luck", where Clooney was the author of the script and director - six Oscar nominations and five prizes at the Venice Film Festival.

However, unlike cinema, Clooney has been actively involved in public activities in recent years. After the start of Russia's full-scale aggression in Ukraine, he and his wife Amal Clooney, a lawyer specializing in human rights, have been collecting evidence of crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine.

One example - their Clooney Foundation for Justice at the end of the year before last appealed to the German prosecutor's office with a statement to begin an investigation into three episodes of crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine. In addition, Clooney himself has expressed and continues to express his support for Ukraine at all public events, including film festivals, where he is willingly invited.

His main political act, a long-standing supporter of the Democratic Party, last year was the statement that after a meeting with Joe Biden, he believes that he is no longer able to fully perform the duties of the president. Biden eventually dropped out of the election - and of course, not because of Clooney, but the actor still remembers his statement.
