Russian Federation names main requirement for agreement with Ukraine

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow seeks an agreement on Ukraine that would stand the test of time, European Pravda reported.

“We can recognize with sufficient confidence the desire of the American side to move towards a quick ceasefire. But a ceasefire without a long-term settlement is a path to a rapid resumption of hostilities and a resumption of the conflict with even more serious consequences, including for US-Russian relations. We do not want that. We need to find a long-term solution, which in turn must necessarily include an element of overcoming the root causes of what is happening in and around Ukraine,” Ryabkov added.

According to Ryabkov, the US-Russian talks held last week in Riyadh, following which Moscow agreed to work on restoring bilateral ties and preparing for talks on Ukraine, did not bring more clarity to President Donald Trump's peace plan for Ukraine.
