US President Donald Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg said that security advisers from the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom are expected to attend the next round of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, which are scheduled for June 2 in Istanbul.

It was this group, he said, that earlier participated in the formation of the Ukrainian version of the 22-point memorandum during meetings in London and Paris, ABC News reported.

Kellogg cites the lack of a Russian version of the memorandum as an obstacle to the talks.

“When President Trump spoke to Putin, he said he would hand over his memorandum within a week. But we still haven't seen it. The Ukrainians have not seen it. I asked the chief of staff of the Ukrainian president, Andriy Yermak, if he had seen it. He replied that he had not. I also spoke to the chief Ukrainian negotiator, Rustem Umerov, who will be negotiating in Istanbul next week. He has not seen the memorandum either,” he said.

The primary goal of the talks is to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire on air, land, sea and strikes on civilian infrastructure.

“We should compare Russian and Ukrainian proposals, highlight topics suitable for negotiations and those that are not subject to compromise. We'll see what we come to when we are in Istanbul next week,” he added.
