Netanyahu demanded clarification from the White House

Netanyahu's statement indicates that the Israeli government is concerned about a scenario in which the US seeks a ceasefire before all of Israel's military objectives have been achieved, Axios reports.

Earlier this week, Israeli intelligence received information that raised suspicions that Iran and the Trump administration were engaged in some kind of negotiations regarding a ceasefire.

On Monday, Netanyahu called White House officials and asked if such talks or information sharing had taken place.

“The White House told Bibi that the Trump administration had not negotiated with the Iranians behind his back,” one source said.

US Special Envoy Steve Wiggins and Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner have been in almost daily contact with Netanyahu, Mossad Director David Barnea, and other Israeli officials, and despite some differences, coordination over the past month has been very close.

“They know we are not negotiating with the Iranians,” the US official said.

The Iranians have been sending messages to the Trump administration through Gulf countries and other countries in the region over the past few days, but the US has not responded.

“We considered these messages nonsense,” the US official said.
