Hulk Hogan has died

It is hard for the younger generation to imagine how popular Hulk Hogan was as a movie actor in the 90s.

The reason for this was not only his exotic appearance (long blond hair, moustache, height 201 cm, weight 137 kg, and at the same time a body pumped up to the limit), but also a well-chosen image. Although Hogan starred in dozens of films during his acting career, the most successful for him were three - "Suburban Commando", "Mr. Nanny" and "Santa Claus Strongman". After that, the image, which could be built on a combination of muscular strength, a fierce appearance and spiritual kindness, was exhausted and Hogan was simply repeating himself.

"Suburban Commando" was the most successful in this trio in terms of invention. A space James Bond, so to speak, named Shep Ramsay, accidentally ends up on Earth due to a breakdown of his ship, where he lands in the suburbs of a standard American city and finds himself in a standard American middle-class family, the "head" of which, played by Christopher Lloyd, is a good but weak-willed person, the fruits of whose inventions are used by his boss.

Ramsay, while waiting for his ship to be repaired, is forced to intervene - and at the same time constantly gets into funny situations. And then space hunters arrive on Earth for him... By the way, the wife of Lloyd's hero is played by Shelley Duvall, winner of the 1977 Cannes Film Festival prize for best actress (she then played in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining"). So quite a company of actors gathered in an ordinary, it would seem, Hollywood comedy.

In Mr. Nanny, Hogan plays a former wrestling star who agrees to become a bodyguard for the children of a top manager, Mason, whose developments are being hunted by unknown people. At first, he faces more problems from Mason's two children, who are very resourceful in escaping from the house of the nannies who were hired for them earlier. However, over time, all three unite in the fight against the aforementioned unknown people.

And finally, in Strongman Santa Claus, Hogan plays an eccentric millionaire who, escaping from police pursuit, runs into a supermarket, dresses up as Santa Claus, but also, as a result of a head injury, decides that he is Santa Claus. And then he enters into a fight with a local villain who wants to close the city shelter. And what kind of Santa Claus are you if orphans are left without a home where they can celebrate Christmas?

As we can see, all these plots, although simple, are united by one idea - kindness to others, which is what won over viewers in these films and made Hogan the most charming Hollywood character of the 90s. The only problem was that you can't come up with many plot twists to implement this idea in the person of a charming wrestler, the scriptwriters and the actor along with them began to repeat themselves, and gradually his movie star went away.

Well, for wrestling fans, Hogan was, first of all, a 12-time world champion in wrestling in different versions, in different weight categories.

He was also involved in politics, although not professionally - everyone probably remembers the scene when, during the campaigning for the presidential elections for Donald Trump, Hogan tore his T-shirt off his still muscular torso with one movement.

It was quite recently, so no one expected such news as today. The media, and not all of them, write sparingly about the cause of death - they say the heart stopped...
