Changes to the border crossing rules concerning men aged 18 to 22 inclusive, published in the Government Gazette, have come into force.

"As of today, this rule has come into effect, and border guards already have the first people wishing to cross the border. Some have already managed to complete the paperwork at the checkpoints," said State Border Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko.

Men in this age group who hold certain positions in the civil service in state or local government bodies are not subject to this rule. These individuals may only leave the country on official business, according to Ukrainska Pravda .
