All NATO countries have achieved the 2% of GDP target

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed Canada's decision to reach this year's defense spending target set by NATO.

“The fact that you have decided to bring Canada's NATO spending to 2% this year is really fantastic,” he said.

He noted that, along with Portugal's recent announcement to reach 2% of GDP this year, all NATO members will reach that benchmark in 2025.

“This is really great news,” he said.
