Trump agrees to halt strikes on Iran for two weeks

"Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, during which they asked me to suspend the use of destructive force that is to be used tonight against Iran, and provided that the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to the FULL, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a bilateral CEASEFIRE!" he wrote.

According to him, the reason for this is that the U.S. has already achieved and exceeded all military objectives and has made significant progress toward a final agreement on long-term peace with Iran and peace in the Middle East.

"We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran and consider it a working basis for negotiations. Almost all previous contentious issues between the United States and Iran have already been resolved, but a two-week period will allow us to finalize and formally conclude the agreement. On behalf of the United States of America as President, and also representing the countries of the Middle East, I am honored that this long-standing issue is nearing a resolution," he said.
