The Vatican begins the election of the Pope

Let's reveal one secret - journalists from all the world's media outlets, who have been publishing lists of the most likely candidates for Pope in recent days, actually have no idea who they will choose. There is even a saying in the Vatican that whoever enters the Sistine Chapel, where the cardinals began their voting, as Pope, leaves it as a cardinal. In any case, neither Benedict nor Francis, the last two Popes, were on the list of favorites at the beginning of the voting.

And one more thing - journalists approach the election of the Pope as if they were electing, say, the president of some country, weighing the supposed (only supposed - unlike secular elections) ideological "platforms" of the candidates. However, in reality, cardinals can be guided by their inner religious convictions, which they are not obliged to report to anyone. And finally, from a religious point of view, the Pope is chosen by God himself, and the cardinals in this case are only instruments of his will.

А с точки зрения фактов — двери Сикстинской капеллы закрыты, конклав отрезан от внешнего мира и результаты выборов, которых может быть до четырех в день, будут оглашаться по старинке — через дым из трубы (черный — Папу не избрали, белый — «у нас есть Папа!»). На входе кардиналы вытащили свои мобильные телефоны, и что интересно, некоторые из них в этот момент отправили в Интернет свои последние сообщения своей пастве. Интересно в том смысле, что оказывается, даже они, в своем возрасте и положении, общаются с «подписчиками» сами, а не через секретарей.
