Zelensky and Trump fail to resolve Donbas issue

Trump said that the parties were close to reaching an agreement on Donbas, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

“This issue has not yet been resolved, but we are significantly closer. It is a very difficult issue, but I am confident that we will resolve it,” he said.

When asked about Russia's position that Ukraine should leave the entire territory of Donetsk Oblast, Trump noted: "That is what they want. But this issue will still be worked out. I think we are moving in the right direction."

Trump expressed the opinion that the issue of Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories will be resolved in the coming months.

Zelensky called the Donbas issue very complex.

"You know our position. We must respect our law, our people, our territory. We have completely different positions on this with the Russians. When we talk about a referendum, this could be one of the keys. There is an opportunity to vote in parliament or hold a referendum," Zelensky added.
