US still wants meetings with Russia for the sake of peace in Ukraine, - Rubio

“The president has been saying for several months that at some point he would have to do something if there was no progress on a peace agreement. So today he decided to do something,” he said.

He stressed that the US is open to negotiations with Russia, CNN reports.

“We would still like to meet with the Russian side... I had a good conversation with Foreign Minister Lavrov, and we will return to it. We will always be interested in cooperation if there is an opportunity to achieve peace,” Rubio said.
