The U.S. and Iran have received a framework plan from Pakistan for ending hostilities and subsequently concluding a peace agreement, which they may agree upon on April 6.

Pakistan conveyed its proposals to the U.S. and Iran overnight on Monday. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire and the subsequent conclusion of a comprehensive agreement. Pakistani Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir has been in contact with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, Reuters reports.

According to Islamabad’s proposal, the ceasefire would take effect immediately, leading to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement would allow 15 to 20 days for the parties to finalize a broader settlement.

The agreement, tentatively dubbed the “Islamabad Agreement,” will include a regional framework for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and final face-to-face negotiations are expected to take place in the Pakistani capital.

The final peace agreement will include Iran’s commitment not to seek nuclear weapons in exchange for the easing of sanctions and the unfreezing of frozen assets.

Iran has not yet made any commitments.
