Jacqueline Bisset is the owner of an aristocratic beauty that such stars as, for example, Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe could not boast of.

The actor who plays Alphonse (Truffaut's favorite actor since "The 400 Blows", Jean-Pierre Léaud) is a neurotic who is having a hard time dealing with the betrayal of his lover, a member of the film crew. When Julie spends the night with him to help Alphonse, he tells her husband, who has left by that time: "I slept with your wife, we love each other, you need to file for divorce." And then she has a second nervous breakdown. Here it should be added only that "American Night" does not focus on this story - it is only one of the plot lines of the story about the problems that every serious film usually faces. (No wonder the American film academy gave him an "Oscar"). From all of the above, it is clear that Truffaut, who himself played "his" director, needed an actress for the role of Julie, who plays Pamela, who was not just beautiful. Her character was supposed to be not only beautiful, but also have a delicate soul, sympathy for the problems of others and the fragility of her own nervous system. With all the abundance of actresses in French cinema who could have played this role, the director chose Jacqueline Bisset, an Englishwoman living in Britain. More precisely, she was a quarter English, on her mother's side, a quarter French, and half Scottish, on her father's side. Perhaps it was this mixture of blood that gave Jacqueline Bisset that unique aristocratic beauty that such stars as, for example, Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe could not boast of. At the same time, she also had an excellent figure, which was demonstrated in the film "The Abyss" in the famous episode with the "wet T-shirt" (at the same time, in her youth she also worked as a model). And - amazing eyes, in which fragility and intelligence were simultaneously read. It is not surprising that she was invited to act by almost all the outstanding directors of that time, and the media called her the most beautiful actress of all tim

And at the same time, her maximum awards are nominations for the Golden Globe and Cesar, which once again proves that success is not measured in awards. But her aristocratic appearance and intelligence allowed Bisset to avoid the "middle-age trap", when actresses stop being invited to act after reaching a certain age. Jacqueline, on the other hand, calmly (at least outwardly calmly) moved on to roles of her peers.
