The US knows what sanctions it can impose on Russia

“We are fully aware of what sanctions we can apply, and at a certain point, the president may decide to do so. It will be his decision. He will not beat around the bush and will not announce a false time frame,” said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

He recalled that President Trump wants Europe to take this step as well, according to the US State Department.

“There are still countries in Europe that buy Russian products, including Russian oil. And the president has called on our European partners to impose the sanctions themselves that they are asking us to impose,” Rubio said.

Rubio refuted claims that Putin was emboldened by the meeting in Alaska, after which he escalated attacks on Ukraine and carried out drone strikes on Polish territory.
