Iran may allow free passage through the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran may be prepared to allow ships to use the other side of the narrow strait in Omani waters without interference from Iran. It is unclear whether this also involves clearing any mines in the area or providing guarantees of free passage for all ships, including those linked to Israel, Reuters reports.

This proposal depends on whether Washington is willing to meet Tehran’s demands.

It is not yet clear whether Iran will also agree to clear any mines it may have laid in this stretch of water, or whether free passage will be granted to all ships—even those linked to Israel.
