Rom Breslavsky spent two years in solitary confinement, next to the bodies of murdered abductees

Tami Breslavsky, the mother of Rom Breslavsky, who was released from captivity, shared with the press in the hospital accounts of the horrors her son endured in Hamas captivity.

According to her, Rom was held in solitary confinement for two years, part of which was next to the bodies of other abductees.  
She added that after his return, Rom told Gal Hirsch where the bodies were located. 

Tami also said her son was not held in the tunnels. He was force-fed before his release, and now suffers from fluctuating blood sugar levels. 

She said that for the first four weeks, Rom was "in a very bad place; everything was difficult." 

She said, "He managed to free himself from the handcuffs, but couldn't light the gas, so he set fire to his clothes, which started a fire, and then many Gazans came—he was afraid they would tear him apart."

According to Roma's testimony, as relayed by his mother, his captors subjected him to psychological torture: they told him that Iran was bombing Israel, assured him that his parents hadn't participated in the protests in the square, and showed him only the protests in Kaplan, claiming his parents had forgotten about him. 

Furthermore, according to his mother, his captors tried to force him to observe Ramadan, read the Quran, and convert to Islam, promising food and better conditions in exchange. But he refused. 

Confirming the psychological trauma he had endured, his mother said, "Now that he's back, he keeps repeating, 'I'm a Jew, I'm a strong Jew.' 

At first, I didn't understand why he said that. It was very important for him to maintain his Jewish identity because they were trying to convert him to Islam and tempting him: if you fast during Ramadan, we'll give you food, soap, things that seem trivial to us. 

But Rom didn't break. When he returned, he immediately put on tefillin—we brought them to him at the hospital. 

Everyone wants to see him, support him, give him something. 

I asked, "Rom, what do you need?" and he replied, "Mom, I don't need anything. Why would anyone do anything for me?" 

He doesn't grasp the scale of what happened, doesn't understand what a hero he is, how many people want to express their love to him. 

He just wants to stand by the window and look at the sky—only air brings him relief."
