Poland has elected a president: Navrotsky won with a minimal margin

According to the results of 100% of the processed protocols, the victory was won by Karol Nawrocki, who won 50.89% of the votes.

His opponent - the incumbent mayor of Warsaw Rafal Trzaskowski - received 49.11% of voter support, reported the State Election Commission of Poland (PKW).

Turnout in the second round was about 68%, indicating a high political mobilization of Polish society. The campaign of both candidates was tense, emotional and conducted virtually in the context of two different visions of Poland's future. This election was one of the most tense in Poland's recent history. The difference of less than two percentage points showed the deep political polarization in the country.

Nowrocki, who previously headed the Institute of Polish National Remembrance (IPN), favors preserving traditional values, strengthening the army and a tougher migration policy.

Analysts predict that the arrival of Nawrocki could affect key areas of Polish politics:

- Foreign policy - a possible cooling of rhetoric toward the European Union;

- Internal reforms - changes in the judiciary, increased control over the media;

- Ukrainian issue - although Nawrocki has not spoken out against supporting Kiev, there may be a revision of approaches to military and humanitarian aid.
