Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will seek to explain Hungary's dependence on Russian energy sources during his meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Orbán noted that since Hungary has no access to the sea, the country depends on land routes for energy supplies, Telex reports.

“And if we don't adapt to this situation, we won't have any energy supplies,” he said.

In his opinion, it is necessary to convey this to the Americans if Hungary wants to obtain some exemption from US sanctions against Russian companies Rosneft and Lukoil.

“Every state has the right to protect itself at the national level from such a system of sanctions,” Orbán added.

The Hungarian prime minister previously said that without Russian energy resources, energy prices in Hungary “will skyrocket, and we are trying to find a way out, especially for Hungary.”
