The Moulin Rouge is visited by 600 thousand tourists annually.

The Moulin Rouge can't claim to be the first in history. The Folies Bergère cabaret opened 20 years earlier, in 1869, and the Elysees Montmartre in 1807. And it was at the Elysees Montmartre that the cancan was first danced. (True, the Moulin Rouge was the first to perform a striptease, but it was more of a random scene.)

Nevertheless, the Moulin Rouge remains number one in the historical list of Parisian cabarets. The "Red Mill" owes this to its first famous dancers, Yvette Guilbert, La Goulue, and Jeanne Avril, who created different stage personas there.

All this attracted the Parisian bohemian elite, and dancers La Goulue and Guilbert also became models for Parisian artists. First and foremost, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, who painted his paintings and posters here from life. However, since these are well-known, we will exhibit "Cancan" by Georges Seurat, an artist no less valuable on the art market than Toulouse-Lautrec.

Last year, as we reported, the windmill's sails suddenly fell to the sidewalk for the first time in 135 years, but recently began spinning again. The 90-person troupe at the Montmartre establishment celebrated the event in Moulin Rouge style, performing a cancan right on the street accompanied by a specially commissioned fireworks display.

Incidentally, the Moulin Rouge attracts 600,000 tourists annually, and admission prices range from 120 to 245 euros on various evenings.
