Merz's bloc wins German elections

The Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) bloc, whose leader is Friedrich Merz, has won the early parliamentary elections in Germany with 28.5% of the votes.

According to the election commission, votes were counted in all 299 districts.

In second place was Alternative for Germany, which received 20.8%.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democratic Party of Germany is in third place with 16.4% of the vote.

The Greens and the Left received 11.6% and 8.8% of the vote, respectively.

Other parties did not overcome the 5% barrier and did not get into the Bundestag.
