Today is the birthday of "great and terrible" Robert Fripp

Just the other day, Robert Fripp's wife wrote that he had an unexpected heart attack, after which he underwent surgery in Italy, where he flew to a music festival, and two stents were inserted. Everything went well, so... apparently, the creator and only permanent member of the British group King Crimson celebrated his birthday. And we, as is customary at the birthday of a famous birthday boy at an advanced age, will turn to history.

For fans of the so-called "progressive rock", the British group King Crimson is one of the best in this direction in history.

That one of the most unusual and complex even for "progressive rock" is for sure. Robert Fripp, who remained the only permanent member of King Crimson, created it in 1968 and over the years since then, single-handedly managing it, maneuvered between the definitions of "progressive rock", "art rock" and "experimental rock".

However, all this is just terms, in fact, King Crimson simply played complex music. To this we must add the legendary poetic lyrics written by Peter Sinfield for the band's first albums. By the way, the dictator Fripp once kicked him out of the band.

Despite the rigidity in managing the group and the manner of behavior at concerts - he sat on a stool with his guitar (by the way, according to Gibson, Fripp shares 47th place with Andres Segovia in the list of 50 best guitarists)) hypnotizing the audience with a motionless gaze - in life he is a man with a sense of humor.

So, during the forced stay at home due to the coronavirus, he and his wife recorded and posted on YouTube a series of humorous videos in which they parodied other people's famous rock compositions. By the way, Fripp jokingly wrote today that his wife is already threatening him, if he irritates her, "to squeeze his stents."

By the way. Fripp himself has about 1100 releases, if you count unofficial ones.
