US struck a vessel attempting to breach the Iran blockade

A US Navy MH-60 helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles into the engine room of the Vela Nova.

This occurred after the vessel's civilian crew ignored repeated warnings from US forces.

"The vessel is no longer heading to Iran in violation of the US blockade, which remains in full effect," CENTCOM reported.

As of August 11, CENTCOM had diverted 55 commercial vessels attempting to breach the blockade, disabled three vessels that failed to comply, and boarded two vessels.
