"Yes, the memorandum is about a page and a half long, so it's a very general document. We'll have to work out a number of issues during the technical negotiations, but the memorandum of understanding sets the framework within which the Iranians benefit from the agreement by fulfilling their obligations under it," said US Vice President J.D. Vance.

Vance noted that the first paragraph of the document sets out the expectation that Iran will commit to regional peace and stability, which, he said, includes refusing to finance groups the US considers terrorist, CNN reports.

He stated that the return of IAEA inspectors is a central component of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding.

"This is, in fact, one of the core parts of the agreement," Vance said, adding that the memorandum explicitly calls on the IAEA and the US to help Iran eliminate its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium.

"This is very clearly spelled out in the memorandum," Vance noted.

When asked about the timeline for implementing this provision, he replied: "This is one of the issues we should discuss on Friday, when everyone gathers, signs this agreement, and begins technical negotiations."
