On May 7, Latvia reported that unidentified drones had violated its airspace from the direction of Russia.

Emergency services discovered what appeared to be drone debris at an oil storage facility in the city of Rēzekne, according to LSM.

Guntars Skudra, head of the Rezekne District Council, stated that one of the drones crashed into an empty oil tank.

At the scene, it was determined that four oil tanks, which did not contain petroleum products, had been damaged by external impact. A 30-square-meter area of smoldering cladding was discovered on one of the tanks, which was quickly extinguished. During an inspection of the oil tanks using a thermal imager, no elevated temperatures were detected inside them.

The State Police confirm that emergency services discovered possible drone debris at the oil storage facility in Rēzekne. The police have opened a criminal case under Section 10 of the Criminal Code, “Crimes Against the State.” Law enforcement officers have cordoned off the scene and are continuing their investigation.
