Trump wrote a letter to Vance

There are succession protocols in place in case Trump becomes the victim of an assassination attempt, Fox News reports.

“There is a letter in the Resolute Desk addressed to the vice president in case anything happens to him. We have protocols in place, believe me,” said White House spokesman Sebastian Gorka.

According to Gorka, he has no concerns that a foreign adversary would take such a step.
