Russian submarines sought to test a secret weapon off the coast of Svalbard

The operation was carried out by the Russian Defense Ministry’s Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research, which used underwater vehicles to simulate the deployment of this sophisticated technology, Reuters reports.

A joint operation involving the UK, Norway, and the US tracked and intercepted the Russian vessels at sea. The ships were prevented from completing the exercises and ultimately left the area.
