In the USA teenagers killed three people at a mosque

On Monday, two armed teenagers opened fire at an Islamic center, killing a security guard and two other men on the grounds in front of the building. The bodies of the two boys, aged 17 and 18, were later found in a car nearby. According to preliminary reports, they took their own lives with firearms. Officials emphasized that the slain security guard likely prevented even more casualties, Reuters reports.

San Diego Police Chief Scott Wall said that local law enforcement and the FBI are investigating the attack on the largest mosque in San Diego County as a hate crime.

The mother of one of the two suspects called the police about two hours before the incident. She stated that her son, who had suicidal tendencies, had fled the house in her car, taking three firearms with him. The woman said the boy was with a friend, and both were wearing camouflage.

The police began searching for the youths and, as a precaution, dispatched patrols to the nearest shopping center and the high school where the boy attended. Soon, calls began coming in reporting a shooting at a mosque.

According to Vol, between 50 and 100 police officers from across the San Diego region responded immediately to the first report of an armed assailant and arrived at the mosque within four minutes.

According to the police chief, law enforcement officers did not fire a single shot during the operation.

The police declined to disclose the contents of the note found by the teenager’s mother.

The attack occurred a week before the major Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice) and the annual pilgrimage (Hajj) to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

“We have never faced such a tragedy before. It is extremely outrageous to target a place of worship,” said Imam and Director of the Islamic Center Taha Hassan.
