Houthis block Bab al-Mandab Strait

On Wednesday, only one cargo ship, a Bahamian-flagged bulk carrier, passed through Bab al-Mandab. This is 20 fewer than on Tuesday, Reuters reports.

Yemen's Houthis, allied with Iran, claimed to have attacked a Saudi oil tanker off the Red Sea port of Yanbu and another Saudi tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

Saudi Arabia has not confirmed either incident.

Only two ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours: a Panamanian-flagged cargo ship carrying coal, entering the strait, and another Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship, exiting.

On Tuesday, traffic totaled eight ships, compared to 130-140 ships per day before the Middle East war broke out in late February.
