Democrats and republicans limit Trump's power

Democrats have repeatedly initiated votes to limit Trump's war powers in both the House and Senate – a campaign that has gradually gained support among members of the Republican Party in recent weeks.

This document, known as a joint resolution, passed by the House of Representatives must be approved by both chambers but will not be sent to the president for signature.

The vote was 215 to 208, with four Republicans switching their support to the opposition.
