Calls in Germany to lift sanctions against Russia

According to AfD co-leader Tino Chrupalla, the party intends to use its success in Saxony-Anhalt to advance issues at the federal level that go beyond domestic policy, the *Süddeutsche Zeitung* (SZ) reports.

"We want to have good relations with Russia again," he stated.

The politician added that Germany's sanctions policy needs to change.

"It will primarily be up to the AfD to address this in the Bundesrat by exerting pressure on the federal government," Chrupalla explained.
